XENIA international consortium commemorates the Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) 2021

XENIA international consortium commemorates the Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) 2021. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20th that honors the memory of the transgender people murdered by acts of anti-transgender violence.
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was born in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people killed after Rita Hester's death and has begun an important tradition yearly celebrated. The Transgender Day of Remembrance raises public awareness of hate crimes against transgender people. It is a day that honors the lives of our members of our community who might otherwise be forgotten.

XENIA with its aims and objective strives to amplify LGBT+ and marginalized voices at risk of exclusion, it commits to concrete actions, highlights and shares resources, perspectives and best practices for LGBT+ inclusion all over Europe.
Thanks to its European consortium (Italy, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Slovenia) XENIA project is currently working to provide an innovative tool that will support European higher education institutions in evaluating the actual level of inclusiveness of their environment and in identifying what, and where, efforts can be placed to best address the needs of LGBT+ people and ensure the protection of their fundamental rights and academic opportunities.
